My blog selection theme is about persistence. The reason i choose that is because nowadays most people can't insist on doing something. I'm the one who doesn't insist. Let me give you a example; I had to lose weight before, now I gain fat so I decided to go to gym every day for lose weight. At first three days I did excises in gym but after a week I couldn't keep it up, and I finally gave up. Another thing is every time when I have test, I should prepare my test. But it is very boring to review for a while, than I can not be focus on because I saw something more fun, like to do something else with my cell phone. So I think I'm a person who doesn't insist. If people don’t insist on doing things that they won't succeed. It's hard to insist on doing one thing all the time until you’re done, so we really need to find a way to solve this problem. In lots discussions of the attributes of successful people, persistence is always mentioned as one of the important factors in success. Major success seldom comes easily or without a great deal of effort. Often the only difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is the ability to keep going long after the rest have dropped out. In fact, persistent people know that any goal need to take time, effort, skills and working patterns. Your goal often like you to have new ideas and continue looking for ways that they can incorporate these into their lives. I find information online that proved same opinion that I have: “The application of persistence to any task, to set up a goal is often what distinguishes between those who are successful and those who fail in any situation. Indeed, a lack of persistence or "giving up too soon" is one of the most common reasons for failure in any endeavor. ” The result is the most common habits of successful people is that they always have an objective passion on doing things, whether it’s unimportant or very important. Having a goal for all of your actions will give you a vision along with a passion to work to achieve your goal. If you are interested in something then you'll be better on doing it; in your favorite things you will heartfelt to insist on doing better. For example, my favorite sport is badminton, I will love to insist on playing badminton every Friday, because I like it. So I never get bored of it. This is a good example if you like something then you will insist on doing it well. Now you have to find what you are interested in, and being persistent on that. Persistence can be a skill to help you to reach your goal; to get what you desire and can even be a bridge that going to success. I believe persistence is probably one of the most admirable and hard characters that a person can possess. It’s the ability to be determined for your self and also achieve something regardless of any setbacks. Having a purpose by a strong desire for can help you insist ; having a clear plan can help you reach your goal; having a positive mind can help you against all negatives and temptation that including someone disrupt you when you keep doing one thing; and having a friend or family encourages you to follow the plan and goals can be the best help for you. These four successful things that you should have for being a persistence people and they are not difficult to set up. You only need to think about your current goal and make sure you are practicing them. Than you will be no longer to succeed.
The key point for how to keep focus on doing one thing is having a goal for all of your actions and find your passion to work with it, than you will achieve your goal easier. If you have a clear goal, then this goal will give you a lot of strength. So if you want to be a persistent person, the way I already tell you it is not as hard as you think, the only thing you need to do is keep your self doing and look forward of your goal. Haobo L

Reframing or taking a different look at a situation gives a lot of perspective. It lets you stop and analyze what is happening in your world, and decide what is going on not necessarily in your world but in the person with whom you have the problem. What brings this up? Late assignments. When I was in school it was never, NEVER, never an option to turn things in late. If you were going to turn it in late you better come in to talk to the teacher beforehand. Like well beforehand. Not in the 3 minutes before the class that it is due but in the days leading up to the due date. Two weeks ago I posted a list of 17 grade 10's that were missing one or more out of 4 assignments that were over the last 4 months, all of which I gave class time to work on and even in one case a week long extension to improve the copy that they turned in on the due date if they were not happy with the final outcome. I try to take the same approach as Howard Aldrich. He does not have a hard and fast rule when it comes to late assignments . If someone comes in and says they are going to turn in something late I generally start with "Ok", and then for seemingly no reason they proceed to give me some long drawn out story as to why it is late.... I just said "OK". I honestly do not care if you turn it in late or not. UNLESS .... You see when you turn something in late it does three things Piss me off, piss me off, and piss me off. Just kidding I just said I don't care. 1) It makes it harder for me to give a fair grade to you and to others if there is any subjectivity to the rubric, because lets face it I am kind of annoyed to be grading this thing after I have graded everyone else's. 2) It puts you at a disadvantage to your peers. You see that assignment you just submitted was tied to you actually learning something. Something that I took time to prepare for you. Or something that we have agreed is actually important for you to become a better person in the big wide universe. 3) It tells me that you don't care about your leaning, about yourself, and that you don't respect me and others in the class (keep in mind this is my personal view and may not be 100% accurate). You see, especially with something like these blogs we need them in on time to have something to do. For example our blog review classes are planned around the leadership students turning in one blog per term on a due date so that they can help elevate those in our class. So back to this whole reframing thing. I understand that we all have busy lives. Students these days have jobs, when I was in school you didn't have a real job. Students are hyper scheduled. Even my two year old has soccer on Tuesdays, and swimming (soon to be gymnastics) on Saturdays. What happened to the good old days of playing in the street? (Thats another blog). Then there is family(guy), Netflix, video games, and whatever else comes up. But what is a teacher to do? I love to remind people that in the business world if you miss a deadline you lose you job or a client. But as a teacher I am supposed to grade you based on the work you do not on wether or not you turn it in on time. So what should I do, give you a zero the day you miss your assignment? Wait 'till report card time and then zero out your chance for that term. Give you an incomplete on your report card and not pass you if you don't turn in a blog? Or just take it and smile? Or should I just reframe my expectations as a teacher? Should I just wait patiently and give out incomplete grades? Dealing with sad students, and angry parents because I was "not doing my job" as a teacher reminding every student, missing every assignment, every time I saw them? Do you ever feel the eyes all around you staring at that piece of clothing you liked in the morning but now you feel like it was too bold and aren't confident in? This is a lack of self confidence. By google's definition, Self Confidence is a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgement. I read this website that has 7 blogs on self worth: pickthebrain.com/blog/the-7-best-blogs-on-self-worth/. These blogs made me really understand what self confidence is and gets me thinking about how to write this blog. I have a real issue with that feeling of eyes on me 24/7. I try and calm this feeling of doubt by complimenting myself (or I try my best to). Somedays are better than others. The steps I follow in calming myself down when I’m anxious is from this website: www.innerengineering.com. This website allows me to just be in my center of mind and not be so “shaky” meaning anxious. It also helps me overcome my terrors of being stared at. Self confidence isn’t just about buying the hip new clothes everyone else has, it's about having our own personality (style), and listening to your own kind of music. Personally I am not a huge rap fan, but I know most of my generation listens to music with profound lyrics and loud beats booming in their ears. But I listen to country music and folk etc. I am very hesitant when someone asks me to pick the next song. Standing up in front of a crowd or your classmates is really hard for most people.Just like me, when I think people judge me for picking a country song, I lack self confidence so I can't give my full potential to my class mates or my teachers. Sometimes I think I'm getting better at my confidence but then somebody says something at me or to me and then I'm back to where I started. If you ever feel like you aren't good enough or your body isn't how you like it? Just think, most people… no, everyone around you is feeling the same way and you are never alone. Self confidence only happens when you accept yourself for who you are. It is also something that can be worked on, you can improve yourself but not if you are constantly worrying about what people think of you. Crack open your shell, and spread your stylist wings and soar over the people who may say the wrong thing. If you see a kid you may not know really struggling, help them get their wings because you have your strong wings to lift them up. Speaking for myself, I am someone who puts a lot of pressure to strive for greatness in this world. Who else can relate to feeling this way? The feeling of needing to do better, to be better, is an overwhelming emotion. In high school I am at a constant worry of striving for greatness, don’t get me wrong this can be measured in small actions. Worries in high school can vary from a chemistry test to what is the best time to post an Instagram post. Let’s be real here, does it actually have any significance to when your selfie is posted?? These minimal things in life shouldn’t be what we strive for. 300 likes on an Instagram post won’t be recognized 5 years from now, being the best version of yourself everyday is what people will recognize 5 years from now. To define what I mean by “best version of yourself everyday” is to be your authentic self, not what other people define you as. To stand up for yourself, to recognize greatness within you, to know everything will be okay so don’t stress & ruin your smile, to love yourself unconditionally no matter the flaws or mistakes. Striving for greatness is knowing you will never be your hero ten years from now but to keep chasing after them. Matthew McConaughey had an astonishing speech when he when won Best Actor at the Oscars in 2014, in the video he talks about the 3 things he needs each day and the last one is his hero. Here’s the video (skip to minute 3:30). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD2cVhC-63I Chasing your future self means a new chapter in your life, turning the page leaving the past in the past knowing what is to come is better than what’s gone. If you’re stuck on getting 300 likes on an Instagram post you won’t have time to chase your future self. Strive for the best version of yourself, not 300 Instagram likes on that selfie you posted. Ella M Who’s your leader ? Kids nowadays always look up to someone but some kids don't have one. The problem with kids trying to find a leader, is each kids interests are different. For the most part kids have their leader ready if they are asked who they are, like if a kid likes basketball their leader might be Lebron James or Kobe Bryant. Most of the interests are their main source of entertainment and have a specific hobby they get their leader from. But kids that have multiple interests have the most difficulty finding a leader because there are too many to count. For intense i don't have a leader because there are so many things that i like, i like rugby, and for the most cooking but it's still to hard to choose. Even Hollywood actors have people that they look up too. For example Dwyane Johnson said- “The men I idolized built their bodies and became somebody – like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger – and I thought, ‘That can be me.’ So I started working out. The funny thing is I didn’t realize back then that I was having a defining moment.” and in that moment Dwayne Johnson realized that he would be one of the most highly loved and paid actors if it wasn’t for the people he idolized. https://addicted2success.com/quotes/57-highly-motivational-dwayne-the-rock-johnson-quotes/
What does it take to be a leader? For the most part it starts with the mind, the only way to be a leader is to put yourself in the mindset of a leader. Once you have the right mindset you need the journey ahead to put you in your stability of what you think and need to be a leader. Now it’s all in putting yourself out there, how are u going to get yourself known. Some people make a blog but some go on T.V. or a news channel. But it’s more in waiting for the right time when people are in need or even if your journey takes u there. Till next time Donovan R |
