When I was thinking about what to write for this blog my mind went right to how quarantine affects your mental health. You wouldn't really think much about this but it is important. Being in one place not allowed to leave on week’s end is really bad for you and can actually make you mentally ill. Quarantine has 3 major effects on your mind autonomy, competency and connectedness. This isolation we face today is making people feel like they are not in touch with the world because everything has shut down. It pretty much feels like you're trapped, you don't see as many people as you once did. The American Psychological Association says that feeling isolated can lead to poor sleep, depressive symptoms, manage your emotions etc. in the last quarantine 31.% of people had depressive symptoms. If you are feeling these symptoms you can find ways to manage your mental health, for example, you can google ways to help and try a whole bunch of different ones. Here let me google that for you.

I really enjoyed reading this blog. I think a lot of people can relate to the struggles of being in quarantine and how it can get depressing at times. I agree that it is important to focus on our mental health during these hard times. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Maddy! I thought that this was a really informative blog and I really like how there were statistics, resources and a link! This was a really good thing for me to read because I have actually been feeling better than ever because I’m well rested and not stressed out with school and sports. So this was a really good way for me to learn about this as well as a really good reminder to check up on some of my close friends and family.

Quarantine for sure took a tole on everyone’s life and mental health, because you should never be trapped somewhere for that long. I really like how you included real life statistics to show people are going through the same thing. Thanks!

If I was to be honest at the time it was fine for me because me and my friends would play online games together most of the days that we were in quarantine, but after a while it did really start to affect me not being able to hang out with them in person. Now we are all finally back to "normal" but that doesn't mean that everyone is the same as they were before, it's definitely taken its tole on the world.
