Unfortunately bullying is a very common occurrence nowadays, whether that be in school, social gatherings or at home. Im sure someone in this class has personally experienced it or maybe even bullied someone themselves. When I say the word bullying, the image of a big kid picking on a smaller kid probably pops into your head but it comes in all different forms. Googles definition of bullying is to seek harm, intimidate or coerce someone who seems vulnerable so it could be verbal or physical. People become bullies for a couple different reasons. First off they are insecure about themselves so they try to bring others down, secondly they are sad or in a rough spot so they want others to feel pain or suffer and finally they are just a jerk who does it fun. None of these reasons make it ok or acceptable to bully someone.Even the little things like getting called a name you don't like or playful punches can have quite a negative effect on people. In some cases it can get to the point where someone gets beat up all the time and there is more than one bully. Those situations are big problems, but cyberbullying might be the biggest culprit of them all. Hiding behind a screen makes it incredibly easy to say and do whatever you want to whoever you want. That reasoning alone has made it so that 43% of kids have been bullied at some point whilst online. https://www.bullying.co.uk/
So far in my life im lucky enough to say that I haven't been bullied but i have had friends who experienced it. Standing up or resolving your bullying situation is always hard but it doesn't have to be done alone. Parents, teachers, friends, counsellors and help lines are all viable options. One thing to keep in mind is you are always above your bully and they are always in the wrong. Jack C

Very good Blog Jack! The act of bullying is a cruel thing. Those who are teasing and those who are just looking at bullying will become bad guys...I hear that bullying is often caused by anxiety and jealousy, but those reasons is ridiculous, there is no enough reason to tease someone.

Great blog!! I feel that when someone is being bullied they feel alone, and they may not realize that there is support out there for them. I was made fun of in elementary school because kids didn't like the fact that I had a disease that would never go away. I dealt with it on my own because at that point in my life I was not comfortable talking about it to anyone not even my parents.

this blog is about such an important topic. i think that especially in high school years many kids experience bullying and don't know how to handle it or where to find help. some kids get super uncertain and even try to find the flaw in themselves.

I used to get bullied a lot and used to be a bystander. Because i'm a generally shy person, it was hard for me to stand up for myself because I was too scared of what would happen if I did. Then I started watching reality tv, and by seeing these super confident, outspoken people, kind of extracted some of that for myself. I embraced my flaws and i'm actually very happy that i'm not the cookie cutter type. People still call me "weird" and stuff like that but I don't really care anymore. I'd rather be myself than live a lie.

Very educational and thoughtful blog, nice job. I haven't experienced bullying that much except in grade one when there was this little bratty girl who continuously made fun of my last name until the point where I would go home crying and wouldn't want to go to school. Thankfully that b*tch moved away
