As a kid I was always told “Don't grow up too fast” and “Stay young for as long as you can.” I used to think it was totally cliche because all I wanted was to have more responsibility. I used to think about meeting the guy of my dreams, the fairy tale wedding, a house with a big yard for my kids to play in. Since then I’ve lost family members, friends and even parts of myself. I’ve had to grow up and face harsh realities. Life is like an hourglass, you have time and it’s slowly winding down and one day your time will be gone. Some people are given more sand than others so you have to make the most of what you get because you never know when it will run out. I've found myself stressing about the future and being scared to grow up. It's all I used to want to do but now that I'm closer to it I wish I could stay young forever and go back to when I didn't have anxiety and insecurities. It's not always bad to think and remember all your old memories but you can't stay stuck with them and keep living in the past like I have before. The present is special and you may not realize it until that moment has passed. Like Andy Bernard said “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them.” Life goes by in the blink of an eye which is something I've realized. You have to live it to the fullest and make the most of your time while you're here. You also have to spend the limited time you have with the people you love like your friends and family. It may be scary but you have to take risks and put yourself out there. This is still something I'm working at, but compared to a year ago I've had so many more unforgettable moments in my life. Whether they were good or bad or I completely embarrassed myself, I wouldn't trade them for the world. They've made me who I am today. I'm looking forwards to the future and to living life to the fullest until all the sand in my hourglass is gone.

i think a big part of all of our lives is coming to the thought of growing up. i think many of us can relate when we focus on growing up that we end up missing out on our ''childhood'' in the moment.

This is a very relateable fear to many people including myself, as a kid wanting to grow up quicker, and as you actually grow up, wishing you could just go back. It's comforting to know others struggle with this as well. I always remember that aging isnt a battle i'm fighting alone, that always comforts me :)

This blog felt kinda sad to read but I think you're telling the truth. I like your point of view on life and how you described time as something precious and limited.

I loved how you compared one’s life with an hourglass and their time given as the sand. I have never thought of it that way. It makes so much sense because we talked about how we cant control time yesterday, just like we cannot stop the sand from falling in the hourglass. That comparison was very concise and easy to understand.

Personally I can't wait to move on in the world and find things that I am passionate about, but I understand what you mean.

this is a subject that i think needs to be talked about more. many of us probably have anxiety that time passes by too fast, and there's nothing we can do about it., i think talking about it will help us accept it.

Anna, you are right about this one! Growing up is something that happens in the blink of an eye. Some people are so focused on the future that they are forgetting to cherish each moment they have, even if it is a small thing, everything adds up. Taking your time to figure out who you are is great, good for you.

Life really is too short. I'm constantly thinking about what's next instead of focusing on the moment and the people around me. I'm pretty sure that I haven't hit the good old days yet, but who knows? My dad says he loved his high school years. So maybe I'm missing out on what's supposed to be the best time of my life. It doesn't matter though, because I should be in the moment and enjoy life while it's still going before it's too late. Good blog!

I really liked your blog, it was a kinda similar topic as I´ve choose, which is why I really could related to it. I think it is cool to work against his anxieties and fears, because you truly can become better, as you yourself said :) This blog inspired me to not give and to try every single day. Thank you for that!

Wow. I’m inspired by your writing style and how you smoothly transitioned from one topic to the next. Honestly, transitioning to adulthood scares me too, it’s like a whole different world from being young and naive. Growing up too fast is something that has affected many people I know, including my brother and I, and some close friends. I’ve learned that there is no reward that doesn’t come with a risk. So im going to be like the Tsawwassen road signs, and live life in the slow lane (unfunny)

I think that your blog was something I can relate to heavily. Even as a little kid I remember always saying to my parents "I dont want to grow up" and they would always tell me the same thing to not grow up too fast. Here we are in grade 11 growing up very quickly which can be scary but also very cool. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your blog Anna. It really reminds me whats important at this moment in our lives. I wouldn’t say that our childhood is over jet, so its soo true that we have to live in the moment. Our childhood is one of the most important periods in our live, so we have to use the time wisely. Sometimes you just have to live, that sounds pretty easy, but I know the struggle of always want to do the right and best thing. In my opinion the fact to turn of your mind for a few ours a day is always fulfilling.

Thank you for mentioning this topic. I feel like everyone must know to enjoy every moment of their life. I haven't seen my family for 5-6 years and I always wish I could spend more time with them.

I get where you’re coming from. When I was younger I was excited to have responsibilities and more opportunities but as I got older that changed. I just wanted to go back and be able to enjoy childhood more. You seemed to put a lot of thought into this blog, thanks for sharing Anna!
