It’s summertime again and the sun is finally shining. For me that means going out and doing stuff with my friends instead of staying in my warm and cozy bed like during winter. But why is it that are we so much more motivated and have more energy in the summertime? And in general how do we get motivated? Okay, i get it, of course we are excited for summer when it has been cold and rainy outside for a long time. We can finally do sport outside, sit in a cute little coffee shop and just be active. i can personally say that i am more likely to do so in the summer. But there have actually been studies showing that sunlight has an influence on us, for example on our social behaviour. But it is not always nice out and sunlight is unfortunately not the only thing we need to motivate ourselves so here is what else can help us with motivation: 1. success: success is motivating! when you work hard on something and it turns out well you are more likely to work harder and to put effort in your next project 2. to-do list: it personally motivates me when i have a to-do list that i can work on and see how it gets shorter and shorter r 3. result: keep your goal in mind and remember what kind of result you want to achieve 4. reward: give yourself something you can look forward to or that you can treat yourself with if you did a good job For me these tips help to motivate myself, when i need to study for an exam or finish an
assignment, for example. On the other hand, staying motivated is a whole different skill that is very important if you want to improve and work on something in the long term. Viktoria D.

I totally feel you! When the sun comes out, my attitude towards everything changes too. The four points you wrote about will surely help me to find that motivation I need, when the isn't out.

I can totally relate to this. When it's raining, I feel down and a lot less motivated to do anything. I always go through the day doing nothing even I have to because I am so not motivated. Especially when I have quiz or test coming up, it really bother. I really like your tip #2, maybe I should start with writing them down what I have to do and get myself more ontask.

First of all, I love the dog pic- it's a great representation of me in the winter. Second, personally I don't usually enjoy summer or the sun in general but I can understand how it would influence people's behaviors and level of activeness. I like that you put tips for staying motivated when the weather maybe isn't that great or just helpful tips to look back on when help is needed to stay focused on a task. Great blog!

This is really interesting, for me personally I find myself happiest when it’s super rainy or “gloomy” outside, but when it’s sunny out I find myself the opposite. These tips could definitely be thought of in reverse for people who enjoy rainy days.

I definitely agree, it can be tough to stay motivated - especially in school with things moving so fast! I like the idea of a to do list, I personally use one to keep track of my assignments !!

I can absolutely relate to the things you mentioned, because in my opinion one of the best feelings is when you have a to-do list and you did everything on it. Also I would say that your motivation depends on the season, because when I wake up in the morning and it's dark or rainy outside I'm not as motivated as when it's bright and warm. But in some cases I think motivation isn't enough, for example you have a goal in your sport then you also need discipline.

i totally agree, it is difficult to motivate oneself to do things. Things even as simple as gettig out of bed some days can be hard. I find it is very important to my personal morale that I reward myself after working for a long time on something. The reward can be as simple as taking a nap or going on your phone for a few minutes.
