This year I am in grade 11. In grade 8,9,10 school was very different. It feels like a whole different world now in grade 11. It’s like the turning point. Everything matters now, what I do after high school matters now. I’m very overwhelmed . Thinking about the future, as well as trying to do good in my classes I’m in now. Did you know there is a study that shows kids in school now have the same stress levels as patients in psych wards in 1867. I’ve been exploring ways to cope with the stress and I will share them here.
Making lists helps me stay organized and on task. It plays a huge part in my school homework schedule. Planning ahead makes you feel less worried about the future and more prepared. If you go to school know your resources. The councillers, teachers and principals are all there for you. Also your parents and friends. The most important thing is no matter how stressful life gets, do one thing a day you love. Even something small, for me it is taking me dog for a walk, or having one of my favourite foods. Life can be very stressful but it is important to know you are not alone. Izabella S

I found this blog very relatble and well written. I felt the same way when I went into grade 11. Finding different ways to deal with stress was a challenge but now I am able to do so. The ways that you cope with stress like making lists is something I have also started doing, it helps me stay organzied and it also gives me the satisfaction when I am able to cross it off my list.

I remember when I started to get stressed with school because I had to start thinking about my future. Grade 11 is definitely a step up and it’s important, stress is kind of inevitable so it’s good that you have ways to cope. I have been making lists of lists of lists for years now and it’s really the biggest thing that helps me stay on track. Good blog, I like it when people add tips and tricks.

In my current study life, I feel the same pressure as you. This pressure is actually not given to us by the outside world, but we have realized our own requirements and restraints. At this age, we have a plan for our future. I used to make checklists just like you to reduce my stress. Whenever I finish one thing and cross it off the checklist, I can feel my pressure released. Thanks for sharing

I'm used to a lot of stress too. In my school in Germany I had school from 7:30 till either 3:15 or 5:15. I only had two hours of school sport in a week, which means that the rest of the time i had to listen to the teacher and sit around. Because I didn't do sport in school I had to do it all after school in my free time. Doing all my sports in my free time, having a lot of homework and studying for multiple big tests, caused that I had nearly no free time. Because of that the Canadian school system is a big relief for me.

Great blog. I feel like you and even if i try different methods to be less stressed, not only one works. However, I think I'm going to try the ones that you suggest, they seem efficient. Thank you

This was really relatable. I really liked how you included things that help you with the stress of school and your future. I like to make lists too. I bought a little whiteboard with boxes for the week and using those I plan out my week sometime on the weekend. Even still it can feel like too much though so I really liked the idea to do one thing a day that you love.

I really like your block because you are talking about something important that probably every teenager at our age could understand. I don't have to fight with this struggle right now because I chose to come to Canada before getting in grade eleven but you wrote it so well that immediately could empathise with your problem. I also love how you wrote tips against this stress afterwards.
