Do you know anyone that has achieved something great all by themselves? Life is a team sport. We all rely on each other to do things everyday. Whether it’s something small like borrowing a pencil or something big like borrowing a lot of money from a friend to buy something. It is a combination of trust and reliability that helps us through life. You trust that your friend is going to pay you back. Your friend is very reliable so they do. A sports team is made up of many individuals. Each person has different strengths and weaknesses. Even though they are all different, they work together when playing to achieve a common goal. They rely on and trust each other to try their hardest every time they arrive at a practice or a game. Knowing many people are relying on you to make that pass or score that goal, it pushes you to do your best because you don’t want to let them down. Doesn’t matter what sport. The importance of a team is that they become your second family. Sometimes someone is having a bad day and that’s okay. Their team will understand that and help build them up. If you make a mistake in a game there’s many other players that will help fix it. Everyone on the team contributes in different ways to achieve a team success. The Toronto Raptors won the NBA finals 2019 because of many people. Everyone that played, the players on the bench for support, the coaches, and many more people. One person can’t win a team sport by themselves. Before every game my team sings and dances in the change room. It gets everyone pumped up and ready to play. During a game it’s the best feeling scoring a goal. Especially when it's a close score and you start sprinting to your team to give eachother a big hug while you jump up and down with huge smiles across your faces. As fun as winning is, you can’t always win. You win as a team and you lose as a team. It is not one player's fault that the team loses. Being part of any team is very beneficial and helps develop many skills. Depending on the kind of team some skills you could attain are communication, perseverance, leadership, determination, health, strength, cooperation, organization, focus, and problem-solving. You can read more on the benefits to playing a team sport like academic performance and mental health on https://armyandnavyacademy.org/blog/beyond-physical-fitness-the-benefits-of-playing-team-sports/ . A team doesn’t just play a sport together, it supports every player through their life. Think about all your family, friends, teammates, teachers, and other people that have impacted your life. Now try to imagine where you would be in life without their support. You may be fine without them, but you wouldn’t have their help that you need to reach your full potential.

Wow yes very well done Taylor! I have mostly seen teamwork through sports in my life but your view on how teamwork is in your life forever really let me see than my life is filled with support and trust from others. Humans need other humans to survive and working together is something the world needs right now. Thank you for sharing :)

I agree with you, teamwork is everything. My dance team is large, we grew up all together at the same studio at a very young age until now, I can always count on them especially when we aren't feeling it. We basically are family. I believe that teamwork is really beneficial like you said, its a sense of completion to have one another by your side, and the skills that come with teamwork are so valuable and its important to know how to use them correctly and respectfully. i'm glad that you recognized if a team goes down you don't put the blame on one team member, and when that happens you don't give up and you keep working hard as a team! Overall having a dream team by my side is something I will always be thankful for, and hoping people experience this feeling of support and connection.

Agreed. From playing sports you gain so many skills. I know from experience that there is a lot of commitment and patience involved which I think is important to learn in life. I like this blog because it highlights the fact that communication and teamwork is important in not just sports but also in life.

Hey Taylor! I thought you made some really great points when you said that life is a team sport, and that you need people to support you in order to reach your full potential. I definitely like to be independent and would prefer to do things on my own, but I have to realize that not everything can be done alone and that help is a good thing. Your blog has helped me recognize the importance of a team and a good support system, even if I don't need help very often, it is comforting to know that people are there for me. I probably wouldn't be where I was today without the support of my family and friends. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Taylor! I think that this blog was really relatable! I know that there are quite a few people in this class that play team sports, though i love how you related it to people who don’t play team sports in the end. I definitely agree with what you said about teams being able to work together towards a common goal and all of the sometimes cheesy but very true statements that there isn’t just one person on a team, it’s not one specific persons fault when a team looses, etc. I can definitely agree from personal experience and playing a team sport my whole life that I have also learned a lot about leadership, communication, perseverance, working together with people, etc. Awesome blog!!

Reading that has really reminded me that there's a team in everything. At your work place you all work together to do the best you can do and to please all your patients. At home with your family you guys are a team and so you have things to do around to keep your house nice. Also for sports teams I am very happy I have the team I do. We have basically had the same team for the past 3 years and so we have all became so close and we know each others strengths and weaknesses. Yes one person can mess up and maybe that other team ends up winning because of that one play but you went into the game as a team so one thing you mess up on does not mean its your fault that you lost. Teams are honestly great to have because they almost become family since you are with each other at your worst and best. Especially if you mess up and aren't happy with what has happened you rely on your team to cheer you up.

Thank you for sharing Taylor! I have played many team sports throughout my life and have found that all of the lessons learned throughout them to be very important as they helped shape me and how I act towards/with others. Recognizing that the principles of playing team sports also pertain to other aspects of life when working in groups or with others I found was a really good way to apply the skills learned from sports. I also love how your touched on how your team is your support system as those are the people that truly look out for you, my favourite teams I have played on have been the ones where the entire team all becomes good friends with each other.

I relate to this blog the most so far since I have participated in countless sports and have always been part of a team since it was a possibility. I am grateful to have had the awesome experience and inclusiveness that has came from sports teams. It gives a great sense of community, and also gives you so many new connections and friends that you probably wouldn't have made without being on the team.

I can relate to this blog because of being on many sports teams and i can a agree that it is super hard aceving somthing all on your own without help. For example a math test the only way your gonna pass that thing is if you ask question and get feedback about how your doing, you need the support system. and on sports team there is not just one person who does all the work its a colective group of people like the goalie the defence the forward, you need them all.

I can definitely agree with this blog. I’ve played team sports my entire life and I’ve always thought of my team as my second family. I am always excited to play sports not only for the game but also to be part of the team. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to play on sports teams because I have developed so many skills and friendships from it throughout the years.

I totally agree with this blog because i've played team sports since I was four and they've definitely molded me into the person I am today. Being on a team is like having a second family. I've learnt so many skills from sports and its definitely the best thing I could have chose to do.
